There's a bridge to climb over Gunn Highway to challenge your legs, a bridge to cross over Rocky Creek as you go under Linebaugh Avenue, and a great example of how municipalities can use "undesirable" property as you swing around a now closed county landfill facility. We'll have breakfast back in Carrollwood, after the ride. Restrooms at the start and midway through the ride.

We begin near the entrance to Philippe Park and ride next to the waters of Upper Tampa Bay, the Safety Harbor Spa and downtown Safety Harbor until we connect with the Clearwater Ream Wilson East/West Trail. On the Trail we'll enjoy the twists, turns and short "hills" of this scenic bicycle pathway as it winds through several of the area's prettiest parks, across a boardwalk into a wildlife sanctuary, down the middle of a Frisbee golf course and a jaunt past the Phillies Spring Training facility. Following the ride we'll have breakfast in downtown Safety Harbor.

December 13 - The Suburbs of Wesley Chapel
      • Meeting Time: 8:00 AM (riders leave promptly at 8:15 AM)
      • Meeting Location: Publix parking lot at The Shoppes of New Tampa, 1920 County Road 581, Wesley Chapel, FL 33544 (corner of Highway 56 and Bruce B. Downs)
      • Distance: ~25 miles
      • Speed: 12-14 mph
      • Ride Leaders: Will and Sandra (859-948-4684)
We'll start from the NW end of the Publix parking lot at The Shoppes of New Tampa and tour an area of southern Pasco and northern Hillsborough counties near County Line Road. The route is flat and contains wide roads with good bike lanes and/or a parallel bike trail. If you haven't kept up with the pace of development on these former ranch lands you'll be amazed by the changes. We'll pass open pastures and new subdivisions and maybe see hot air balloons, egrets, sand hill cranes or possibly an alligator or black snake out for the morning sun. Restrooms and water at the start and midway through the ride and breakfast at the end. If you enjoy long straight pavements on which to stretch your riding legs, then this is the ride for you.

December 20 - Them Thar Hills around San Antonio
      • Meeting Time: 8:00 AM (riders leave promptly at 8:15 AM)
      • Meeting Location: San Antonio Railroad Depot Museum, 32627 Railroad Ave, San Antonio, FL 33576.
      • Distance: 22 miles with the addition of a very hilly 5-mile loop at the end of the ride, depending upon group's wishes
      • Speed: 12-14 mph
      • Ride Leader: John (813) 613-6047
Note: We will start at the San Antonio Railroad Depot Museum and head south beyond San Antonio for our first climb up Prospect Road. Most of our riding will take us north to northeast of San Antonio and then back. About one quarter to one third of the ride is actually flat to gently rolling, although there are some hills with good grades including Happy Hill Road and "The Three Sisters". If you have a standard compact double front crank you can do the ride. You just spin your way up. There is no shame in walking part-way (or all the way) up, either! We'll enjoy breakfast after the ride at a new restaurant in San Antonio. Note: We will be in the "country" for this ride, so be sure you come prepared with TWO bottle of water. There are restrooms at the ballfield, across the street from our meeting location, but none on the ride route.

Basic directions from Tampa: take I-75 north to Exit 285 onto FL- 52 E towards San Antonio/Dade City. Turn left onto Curley Rd/Co Rd 577 for .08 miles and turn left onto Railroad Ave. The railroad depot museum will be on the left. Look for railroad cars and a depot.

December 27 - Davis Islands Ride
      • Meeting Time: 8:00 AM (riders leave promptly at 8:15 AM)
      • Meeting Location: HCC Tennis Courts Parking Lot, 59 Columbia Drive, Tampa 33606 (next to Tampa General Hospital)
      • Distance: 14-18 miles
      • Speed: 10-12 mph
      • Ride Leader: Les (813) 598-4944
We'll tour waterfront homes, the airport, dog park and seaplane basin as we ride a circuitous route around and up the middle of Davis Islands. We'll end up at a coffee shop on the Islands where we can enjoy food and conversation. This is a good ride for the novice rider because the pace is relaxed, the roads are quiet and traffic is minimal. For those who want to add 10 miles to the ride, there will be a group riding down from Seminole Heights to the starting location. Call Les (813) 598-4944 if you want to join up with them.
Note: Restrooms along the route, but NONE at the start.
