We will ride leisurely along shady streets, and city bike paths as we tour Seminole Heights, Ybor City, Channelside, Harbor Island and downtown Tampa. Our return will follow the Hillsborough River through Riverside Heights, Tampa Heights and South Seminole Heights. Upon our return we will enjoy foods, pastries and beverages (organic coffees and freshly squeezed fruit juices) from the Seminole Heights Sunday Morning Market located at Hillsborough High School. Secured bicycle parking is provided at the Market, courtesy of the Seminole Heights Bicycle Club. This is a great ride for novice riders or those new to Tampa.

Come explore the winding streets and picturesque lakes of north Tampa and Forest Hills. The ride begins and ends at Gino's Restaurant, with restoom stops available at the start and along the route. The route will take us through neighborhoods that surround the Babe Zaharis Golf Course, turn north and continue beyond the Tampa city limits, and then return through Forest Hills and "old" Carrollwood. Breakfast at a unique Columbian restaurant after the ride.

January 22 - SPECIAL!!! Carrollwood Bicycle Emporium to Upper Tampa Bay Trail and Bike Clinic

Ride from the Carrollwood Bicycle Emporium through Carrollwood Village and North Tampa neighborhoods to the scenic and shady Upper Tampa Bay Trail. We'll enjoy the twists, bridges, uphill and downhill turns of this popular bike trail, then retrace our bike trail route back to the bike store for refreshments and a short seminar on bicycle safety and maintenance. Manny Sierra, from the bike shop, will ride with us and conduct the clinic. He will also have the shop open before and after the ride for anyone needing air, restroom facilities, etc.

We'll tour waterfront homes (including Derek Jeter's mansion), the airport, dog park and boat basin as we ride a circuitous route around Davis Islands. We'll end up at a coffee shop on the Islands where we can enjoy coffee and pastries. This is a good ride for the novice rider because the pace is relaxed, the roads are quiet and traffic is minimal.

Beginning with a loop through Phillippe Park we will ride around the northern-most shores of Tampa Bay to discover the hidden secrets of Oldsmar. Oldsmar was named for R.E. Olds, an early automotive pioneer and founder of the REO Motor Car Company, and R.E. Olds Park on the shores of upper Tampa Bay is one of the first areas we'll pass through. Our journey next takes us to Mobbley Beach Park, then to Mobbly Bayou along the new Oldsmar Trail, continuing with a loop through Hillsborough County's Upper Tampa Bay Park before we work our way back to our cars. Restrooms at the parking lot and at all of the parks along the route. Breakfast after the ride at Eggstyles, a new Oldsmar eatery on Tampa Road.

All Around Seminole Heights/Sunday Morning Market

Similar to our Tour of Tampa ride, we will gently cycle through major sections of Seminole Heights as we wend our way along the Hillsborough River that serves as the western and northern boundary of this neighborhood. We'll ride past historic homes and lovely pocket parks and into areas you may not have visited before. The terrain varies from flat to a bit of up and down when we're near the River, and most of the route is shaded by the gorgeous tree canopies for which Seminole Heights is known. We'll return in time to enjoy the food, fun and other offerings at the Sunday Morning Market across the street from the library. Secure, complimentary bicycle parking is provided at the Market by volunteers from the Seminole Heights Bicycle Club. This is a great ride for novice riders or those wanting to tour a lovely, old neighborhood at a leisurely pace.

February 19 - USF to Lutz

We will leave from Gino's and ride over to and through the USF campus. From there we will go north and then west to North Tampa's Lake Park. Behind Lake Park we pick up a bike trail that will take us south through Northdale and then through Carrollwood Village on our way back to Forest Hills. We'll breakfast upon our return at a unique little Columbian restaurant next to Gino's. Note for new riders: some roads have no bike lanes and heavy traffic.

February 26 - North Tampa Ride to Odessa

Ride from lovely Carrollwood Village neighborhoods to the rural lanes and lakes of Odessa, returning the same way we rode out. If you're lucky you might even see a llama! Enjoy bagels in Carrollwood following the ride.

March 18 - Tierra Verde/Ft. Desoto Nature Ride

The beaches of Ft. Desoto Park are rated among our Nation's Top Ten. Come and see why as we ride the park's scenic roads and bike trails. We'll visit both the South and the North beaches as well as the historic fort. The park's trail takes us along large areas of restored native plants and beautiful views of the Gulf of Mexico and the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Once back at Tierra Verde Center we'll enjoy an authentic "old world" breakfast at a German crepes restaurant.

We begin at the Weedon Island Cultural and Natural History Center at the end of Pinellas County's Weedon Island Park. We'll wend our way to St. Petersburg, touring scenice Coffee Pot Bayou, Old Northeast and downtown St. Pete. Our breakfast stop is at a local cafe in downtown St. Pete. On the return trip we'll tour Snell Isle and its waterfront mansions, enjoy the wildlife on Weedon Island and, perhaps, watch folks launch kayaks.

April 8 - Little Sights of Seminole Heights

Enjoy breakfast after the ride at a "Heights" cafe, and perhaps a visit to the new bike store next door.

We begin near the entrance to Philippe Park and ride along the waters of Upper Tampa Bay until we connect with the Clearwater East/West Trail. Enjoy the twists, turns and short "hills" of this scenic bike trail as it winds through several of the area's prettiest parks. Following the ride we'll have breakfast at one of the restaurants in downtown Safety Harbor.

From the Old Train Depot in Dunedin we will ride north on the Pinellas Trail through Ozona, Palm Harbor and Crystal Beach to Tarpon Springs and then return. The Pinellas Trail is considered by many to be Florida's premier trail, and this section its prettiest. The route is scenic and shady, with one biking bridge over the highway to add just a tiny challenge. Optional loops include riding through Anclote River Nature Park, Wall Springs Park and across the Intracoastal Waterway to Honeymoon Island and back. Restrooms at the train depot and at parks along the way. Breakfast in Dunedin after the ride.

Discover historic houses, lovely yards and pocket parks sprinkled along the Hillsborough River, as we avoid busy streets by taking less traveled connector roads. The terrain varies from flat to a bit of up and down when we're near the River, and most of the route is shaded by the gorgeous tree canopies for which Seminole Heights is known. We begin near the entrance to Philippe Park and ride along the waters of Upper Tampa Bay until we connect with the Clearwater East/West Trail. Beginning with a loop through Phillippe Park we will ride around the northern-most shores of Tampa Bay to discover the hidden secrets of Oldsmar. Oldsmar was named for R.E. Olds, an early automotive pioneer and founder of the REO Motor Car Company, and R.E. Olds Park on the shores of upper Tampa Bay is one of the first areas we'll pass through. Our journey next takes us to Mobbley Beach Park, then to Mobbly Bayou along the new Oldsmar Trail, continuing with a loop through Hillsborough County's Upper Tampa Bay Park before we work our way back to our cars. September 16 - Trout Creek to Flatwoods

From Trout Creek Park we'll ride north on Morris Bridge Road, cross the Hillsborough River and then enter Flatwoods Park. We'll ride the 7 mile Flatwoods paved loop, and the 2 mile extension out to Bruce B. Downs. Then we will retrace our route back to Trout Creek. Look for deer and other wildlife in the woods. Breakfast at a local eatery after the ride. Restrooms and water at the start and halfway points of the ride.

We'll end up at a coffee shop on the Islands where we can enjoy coffee and pastries. This is a good ride for the novice rider because the pace is relaxed, the roads are quiet and traffic is minimal.

October 7 - Withlachoochee State Trail

Note: We will start at the San Antonio Railroad Depot Museum and head south beyond San Antonio for our first climb up Prospect Road. Most of our riding will take us north to northeast of San Antonio and then back. About one quarter to one third of the ride is actually flat to gently rolling, although there are some hills with good grades including Happy Hill Road and "The Three Sisters". If you have a standard compact double front crank you can do the ride. You just spin your way up. There is no shame in walking part-way (or all the way) up, either! Breakfast at the little San Antonio Deli afterwards. We will be in the "country" for this ride, so be sure you come prepared with TWO bottle of water. The beaches of Ft. Desoto Park are rated among our Nation's Top Ten. Come and see why as we ride the park's scenic roads and bike trails. We'll visit both the South and the North beaches as well as the historic fort. The park's trail takes us along large areas of restored native plants and beautiful views of the Gulf of Mexico and the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Once back at Tierra Verde Center we'll enjoy an authentic "old world" breakfast at a German crepes restaurant.

This is a scenic ride along the rolling hills and rural farmlands surrounding Lake Thonotosassa. We'll cycle south from the park, around the lake and then up, down and around the peaceful roads and country lanes of eastern Hillsborough County. We'll end up on the oh too short Ft. King bike trail as we return to the park. Keep an eye out for hawks, vultures, sandhill cranes and strawberries in the fields. Restrooms at the park. WARNING: NO water (i.e., no stores) on this route, so make sure you start with two bottles of liquid. Unless we chance by the odd porta-John, any necessary stops will be true "natural breaks." Breakfast after the ride.
